Sports massage can help in the prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. Sports massage can be used by athletes to prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after an event, or as maintenance during training periods.

However, you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage!

Sports Massage & Soft Tissue Therapy

It is usually beneficial for anyone with injuries, chronic pain or a restricted range of motion. Soft tissue therapy is usually a deeper massage that focusses on reducing tension and stiffness. The technique encourages blood to flow into the muscles, to oxygenate them and speed up their recovery. A treatment at LMT may focus on releasing knots and on a target area, for example a frozen shoulder or pulled hamstring, rather than giving a full-body massage. LMT often uses thermal and cryotherapy treatments to complement your treatment

Each client’s treatment plan at LMT will be tailored to them specifically. Communication is key, and regular dialogue will be required to make sure you gain the best out of each treatment. It can be uncomfortable at times due to the homing in on any problem areas, but it should never be painful.
